Medium: Acrylic on Canvas Board
Size: 61 x 61cm
Price: $2500
A story about time…. The concept of time fascinates me. Everyone has a different perspective of it. Looking at the world through the past, present or future tense? Who invented it? Is it an abstract concept? How do we measure it? Numerous artists have depicted the concept of time over the history of art, and many have used the clock to represent it; Dali, Gonzalez-Torres, Chagall, Cezanne, Monet, Munch and of course Guston. Pictured here are a few recent works following a similar theme.

The longing distance creates and the seas that separate us will never change. The postcard came into my possession rather damaged and the holes I punched in it have forever altered it, but it's sentiment was not lost. The reverse of the card reads: "Dear Stewart - no doubt you are surprised to hear from me. I am leaving this ship when we arrive in Sydney. I really am trying to get "home" to get my apprenticeship - in sail if possible. So we'll be able to go to sea again! Call me early on Saturday week morning will you? Haha (that's a laugh if you don't know) Goodbye for the time. Regards, Geoff (- give my regards to your mother and lads)".

Artwork Title: BYRON BAY
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 22 x 61cm
Price: $1800
One day whilst waiting in a coffee shop in Byron Bay, I received an email that our Australian citizenship had been approved. Shouting with joy, I ran to my husband and shared the news with him and my children. All the people around us asked what was happening and they smiled at the news even though they were strangers. And that is Australia to me, beautiful land with kind people who rejoice in your own happiness. Each piece has a different meaning: Three of them symbolize my three nationalities: Venezuelan, Spanish and Australian. And the other three are the pillars and at the same time the most cherished people in my life: my husband, my daughter and my son.

A literal depiction sits alongside a set of clip-art equivalences found through Google image searches. While they symbolise my current health struggles, they are also beautiful in their own way.

Artwork Title: MY SUNDAY BEST
Medium: Oil on Linen
Size: 55 x 45cm
I have documented a family of Gums and the way they respond to the seasons, shedding their skin and changing in colour. Tree bark is similar to human skin, as it’s critical for survival. Their "outer garment" can be as striking as a gown encrusted with jewels.
When really observing bark for the first time, one may notice subtle differences in shades of a grey and brown palette but upon closer examination of each tree, an astounding gift of diverse bark pattern, texture and colour awaits; all integral to the tree bark’s beauty. I have a deep connection to this family of trees and my aim is to capture the intricate beauty of their ‘skin’, drawing the viewer right up close to focus on their “hidden jewels”. I aspire for tree bark to be noticed and celebrated through my work sparking inspiration for one to seek it out in real life too.

I decided to draw Noémie Merlant after watching the expertly shot French film: A Portrait of a Lady on Fire, a dramatic film about an artist, Marianne, who is commissioned to paint a wedding portrait of a young noblewoman: Héloise. I have an ongoing preoccupation with the seemingly infinite beauty of the golden mean and it’s sister, the golden spiral.

Artwork Title: EYE ON THE HORIZON
Medium: Acrylic
Size: 45 x 45cm
Price: $750
This piece was created intuitively and, to me, it evokes the vastness of the West Australian outback. It is also a reminder that there are many and varied pathways through our life experiences and, at times, the destination may appear lost. However, keep an eye on the horizon and trust the journey. Whether it be a metaphoric physical one, or a creative journey.

The women featured are contemplative and languid, in line with the soft modulation of colour and restrained palette. work is inspired by Austrian/New Zealand artist/architect/environmentalist Hundertwasser
and a group of paintings I’d been doing called “The Other Side”.
The title “Straight Lines are Godless” comes from a quote of Hundertwassers.
The first paintings were of buildings and plants. The original intention was to curve the buildings and straighten the plants, but in some paintings they worked better when the plants were left curved or simplified.

Artwork Title: A SEA OF WILDFLOWERS, 2021. OIL ON LINEN, 30 X 26CM.
Medium: Oil on linen
Size: 30 x 26cm
Price: $1500
Through her paintings Betra Fraval graphically and poetically interprets the landscapes she encounters. With A Sea of Wildflowers (Ben Lomond), there is a breathtaking awareness of the vastness of time. Its mountainous rock formations date to the Jurassic period and what we experience of them is a mere blink in their history. It hints at the slow, but inevitable passing of time which eventually overtakes all things. To witness these vast wild places instils a sense of wonder and it is this experience that the artist attempts to translate and capture.

Artwork Title: FIGURE IRRADIATION
Medium: Oil on board
Size: 35 x 28cm
Price: $1000
This painting is from a body of work developed over the last year, comprising portraits mostly of myself or close friends.
Alongside a definition and spatial articulation of form, there is an attempt to build a tableau of the face to indicate and embody the movement of emotive states, one moment to the next. The face becomes a network for contrasting mark making and stabilised form, yet simultaneously revealing a temporal movement of mind.
Rather than attempting to portray a portrait as a fixed point in time and space, the transformation and flux of our own thoughts, emotions and viewpoints is perhaps a more real and compelling object to ponder.
Figurative painting has a long tradition, however its relevance is arguably more profound in a time of digital, social and economic transformation of shared notions of identity and place.
Artwork Title: LAKE BINDAGOLLY - ATALAYA HEMIGLAUCA
Medium: Acrylics, dirt, leaf litter and geological map collage on Arches paper and
Size: 41 x 29cm
Price: $650
Even the red desert earth is fecund, a magma of minerals, insects, microbes and fallen leaves. Lake Bindagolly is an ephemeral lake in far west Queensland. Atalaya species are usually herbs, but this one grows rapidly to tree size. Its leaves are twins and its trunk pulpy. I brought back the earth and a branch and painted this. It was on my return from South Australia during the pandemic, driving alone in my small car via Innamincka, a sudden storm forced me to take shelter in scrub near the lake, which is a National Park. The colour of the soil is like the colour of the geological map I made long ago of the north Flinders Ranges in SA, so I collaged a cross-section from it. The Strzelecki Track I followed skirts those ranges.

Medium: Oil on Linen
Size: 61 x 61cm

FLORAL TEA

The little red teapot is so happy to be plonked amongst the abstraction of fruit and floral shapes. I love the mess of a kitchen table when the whirlwind of the day arrives and lands on the table. Translating the clutter in paint is even more fun.

Artwork Title: CYBER TULIP
Medium: Oil on canvas
Size: 60 x 45cm

Artwork Title: THE GIRL WITH THE CURLY HAIR
Medium: watercolour
Size: 305 x 21cm

This work is about the innocense of children. I feel there is pressure on children to conform to outdated sexual stereotypes and adult ideas more than ever before because of the explosion of social media. I was compelled to draw this child from a vintage photo I stumbled upon on the internet. Children are our legacy and it is up to adults to protect them from harm and allow them to just be kids.

Look above;
blow a wish

Ever less dreamed
of flying without hope –
I whistle a tale
when the sunset unfolds.

Would the last stand be about understanding, acceptance and humility or would be the last defiance against the powers of justice?
The answer hangs in the balance…

Medium: oil on canvas
Size: 60 x 60cm
Price: $2200
This piece is a continuation of my exploration of the depiction of my local native environment. My aim is to utilise the paint in a way that the viewer has a feeling of immersion in the light and patterns of the bushland, rather than a realistic rendition. She was posing with her hand full of stuffs and four 500rupees to the photographer with lot of happiness. She is grateful for what she had at that moment. Her smile is my inspiration. Just trying to learn from her. If we are satisfied, happy and grateful for what we have, then we don't complain about our life and live peacefully. Covid has taught so many lessons to everyone. Yes, for me too. When compare to Vellammal paatti and so many other people struggling around the world, I feel that we are safe and well. I have so much to appreciate in my life. Thanks to @Jackson_herby for freezing this beautiful moment and reference image.

Artwork Title: RENDEZVOUS
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 60 x 45cm
Price: $2500
This lively painting was inspired by my walks around Sydney Harbour, especially sunset strolls around Rushcutters Bay. The paint is applied luxuriously thick, and the wispy clouds contrast with the chunky surreal water. It is painted from the perspective of the person in the water. I wanted this composition to be a little absurd and yet cognitively recognisable. I wanted ridiculous, but I also wanted it to be transportive. I think I captured what was in my minds eye; salty crashing waves, scorching hot sun and a perfect Summers day on the harbour.

I evoke nature, it is my biggest and finest inspiration. Nature
enable me to be a part of something bigger, it expend my
perspective and liberate me from the outside world. The
strong connection I have with it gives me the freedom and
power during the process of creating. The process which is
always long and unclear is a mixture between my intellectual
and empiric experiences. The drawings are coming from the
deepest part of my soul, born from circumstances and
challenges I faced. I believe that a continuously changing

These works use layers of imagery to convey the message of how the perspective of land management & development in Australia has not changed. It explores how the consumerist nature behind it, leaves no consideration for the future of the environment, regardless of the countless warnings from both Indigenous Peoples of the land and Scientists. With 60000 years’ worth of careful land management, it is painful to see the complete disregard of that legacy. The paintings incorporate the landscape juxtaposed with Australiana architectural elements, displaying the narrative of time, with metallic lines representing construction. This work takes inspiration from Clint Naina, Sam Leech, Peter Usher and David Ralph.
